Two women who died in a crash as they drove home from a Halloween party were living together at the time of the tragedy, a court has heard.

Sara Ribeiro, 29, and Sara Pancas, 38, were both killed in a crash on the A11 at Ketteringham at around 5am on November 3.

Ms Ribeiro died at the scene of the crash, while Ms Pancas, who was driving at the time, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where she died two days later.

Inquests into the two women's deaths were opened at Norfolk Coroner's Court on Monday, during which it was confirmed both victims lived at the same address in Bidwell Court, in Thetford.

Senior coroner Jacqueline Lake opened Ms Ribeiro's inquest first, confirming that she had been born in Portugal and was employed as a warehouse operative.

Ms Ribeiro died due to a heart injury suffered in the collision.

Mrs Lake then opened Ms Pancas' inquest immediately afterwards, confirming that she had also been born in Portugal and worked as a factory worker.

She added that Ms Pancas had died as a result of a traumatic brain injury due to a road traffic collision.

The crash happened in the early hours of Sunday, November 3, when a black Mini One driven by Ms Pancas left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

Two other passengers, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s, were taken to hospital for further treatment following the crash.

It has previously been reported that the group were returning from a Halloween party held the previous evening.

The main road was closed to traffic for more than six hours following the incident, which was attended by emergency services, including two air ambulances.

Full inquests for both women have been scheduled to take place on Monday, May 19 next year.
