A man has been arrested after a young child was left seriously injured following a hit-and-run in Thetford.
The man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He has been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
The arrest follows the incident on the A134 Brandon Road at 6.50pm on Monday when a white Skoda Fabia was involved in a collision with a child and the driver fled the scene.
The child was taken to West Suffolk Hospital and later transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
Roads and Armed Policing Sgt Peter Howlett said: “I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and has provided information to aid with our investigation.
“I would urge anyone who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.”
