Thetford: Lawyers investigate John Hibble's asbestos death

John Hibble died from mesothelioma, which is a disease associated with exposure to asbestos. 

Paying tribute to the 83-year-old, his children - son John Paul Hibble, 54, and daughter Monica McKenzie, 56 – said they were “devastated” by his death. 

Speaking on their behalf, lawyer Natalia Rushworth-White, said: “John’s death from mesothelioma continues to have a profound impact on his loved ones who understandably remain devastated by their loss. 

“What happened to John is also a stark reminder of the legacy left behind by asbestos, with the effects of it often coming to light several decades after initial exposure.” 

Mr Hibble previously worked at S Warner and Son Limited between 1961 and 1969. Although a national company, he worked predominantly on projects within London, East Anglia and the South East. 

He began his employment with S Warner and Son Limited, a roof glazing company, in 1961. His role was a patent glazier which mainly involved working on industrial units, including new-build factory units.  

He remained there until 1969.

In January 2021, he began suffering from shortness of breath. Following a biopsy in July, he was diagnosed with mesothelioma. 

He died seven months later on February 22 and an inquest last year concluded he died due to industrial disease. 

Mr Hibble was a father-of-three, as well as a grandad and great-grandad. His wife, Lucy, died in May 2022, aged 82. 

Mr Hibble jnr added: “Dad’s illness came as a huge shock to us all and to have to watch him deteriorate so quickly was incredibly difficult. 

“More than a year on, we’re still devastated he’s no longer here.   

“He was the best dad and loved nothing more than spending time with his family.”
