All Norfolk school closures Friday due to teacher strikes

Children and parents face more disruption as teachers across England strike again in a long-running dispute over pay.

Sports days, school trips and transition days for pupils are set to be disrupted as a result of the walkouts by teacher members of the National Education Union (NEU).

It is the eighth day individual schools in England have faced walkouts by NEU teacher members this year.

The government offered teachers a £1,000 one-off payment for the current school year (2022/23) and an average 4.5% rise for staff next year after intensive talks with the education unions.

But all four education unions involved in the dispute rejected the offer, and the decision on teachers’ pay in England for next year has been passed to the independent School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB).

The NEU accused the Government of sitting on that pay review body’s report, which it believes recommends a 6.5% increase.

The union called on Education Secretary Gillian Keegan and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to “start listening and start negotiations”.

NEU joint general secretary Kevin Courtney said: “No teacher wants to be taking strike action and this week’s strike action should not have been necessary.

The schools below are set to be closed or partially closed today (July 7), but parents should check with their child's school for full details.

It is thought that lots more schools are affected today but don't post details on the Norfolk County Council closures website.

Ashleigh Primary And Nursery School (NR18 0HL) - School and nursery closed.

Attleborough Academy (NR17 2AJ) - Open only for year ten students and vulnerable students and those of critical workers by prior arrangement.

Avenue Junior School (NR2 3HP) - Provision is only available for pre-invited pupils who are considered 'vulnerable'.

Barford Primary School (NR9 4AB) - Closed today to all pupils. 

Barnham Broom CE VA Primary School (NR9 4BU) - Closed to classes one, three, four and five. Class two children are to come in as usual. 

Bluebell Primary School (NR4 7DS) - Due to the strike action, school is closed today to all but year five, willow class, reception and year two.

Bressingham Primary School (IP22 2AR) - Fully closed.

Bure Valley School (NR11 6JZ) - School attendance is restricted.

Cawston Church of England Primary Academy (NR10 4AY) - Fully closed.

City Academy Norwich (NR4 7LP) - Closed except for year ten, 8.45am - 1.30pm.

City of Norwich School (NR4 6PP) - Open for all of year ten and attendance is compulsory. We are also open for year twelve who can complete their remote learning in school.

Colkirk Church of England Primary Academy (NR21 7NW) - Closed to the majority of our pupils. 

Cromer Junior School (NR27 0EX) - Year four closed due to industrial action. Partial closure in year five.

Dereham Church of England Junior Academy (NR19 1BJ) - Year five and six are closed today.

Diss CE Junior Academy (IP22 4NT) - School open for children in years three and six. Limited places available for children in years four and five on request.

Diss Infant Academy And Nursery (IP22 4PU) - School open for children in nursery, years one and two only.

Docking Church of England Primary Academy and Nursery (PE31 8LH) - School is closed for Inca Jays and Golden Eagles.

Duke of Lancaster School (NR21 9DQ) - The school will be open to students of parents who have communicated they require a place.

Eaton Primary School (NR4 6HU) - School will be partially closed to pupils.

Edith Cavell Academy and Nursery (NR1 2LR) - School will be open for pupils in Rainbow and SRB classes and to vulnerable pupils. Families of children entitled to free school meals can order a lunch to collect. Please contact the office by 9.30am to order.

Fakenham Academy (NR21 9QT) - School will be closed to all pupils.

Fakenham Junior School (NR21 8BN) - Fully closed.

Falcon Junior School (NR7 8NT) - School closed.

Filby Primary School (NR29 3HJ) - Little Blossoms and Swallowtail Classes open as normal.

Framingham Earl High School (NR14 7QP) - School is open for year seven and year nine as normal. Year ten attendance for exams only.

Frettenham Primary School (NR12 7LL) - School is closed to class one and two.

George White Junior School (NR3 4RG) - Partially closed today.

Great Dunham Primary School (PE32 2LQ) - KS2 classes will be closed today. Ranworth and Hickling children should remain at home. KS1, Oulton class, should be in school as normal.

Gresham Village School and Nursery (NR11 8RF) - School only open for nursery and reception.

Hainford VC Primary School (NR10 3BQ) - School open only to vulnerable children.

Harford Manor School (NR2 2LN) - Closed to all classes except White, Orange and FE.

Harleston Sancroft Academy (IP20 9DD) - The school will be open to the following year groups only: The Dove Hub, nursery, reception, year one, six and ten.

Hellesdon High School (NR6 5SB) - Open to year ten and year twelve students only.

Hethersett Woodside Primary & Nursery School (NR9 3JL) - School closed for all year groups apart from nursery.

Hillside Avenue Primary & Nursery School (NR7 0QW) - School and nursery closed.

Hingham Primary School (NR9 4JB) - Fully closed.

Hobart High School (NR14 6JU) - The school is closed to years seven, eight and nine.

Holt Community Primary School (NR25 6SG) - The school will only be open to year three and vulnerable children/children of critical workers.

King Edward VII Academy (PE30 2QB) - Open to year seven, ten, 12 and vulnerable students.

Lionwood Infant & Nursery School (NR1 4AN) - Due to teacher strike action school will be closed to pupils in year one and year two.

Lionwood Junior School (NR1 4HT) - Closed due to strike action.

Litcham School (PE32 2NS) - Primary Phase is open as usual.

Little Snoring Community Primary Academy (NR21 0JN) - Hedgehogs Class is closed.

Lynn Grove Academy (NR31 8AP) - School will be open as usual for vulnerable and other invited pupils. Enrichment trips will still go ahead as planned.

Ormesby Village Junior School (NR29 3LA) - Partially closed to pupils in year three class only.

Sheringham Community Primary School & Nursery (NR26 8UH) - School partially open to pupils in years three, five and six only. 

Sidestrand Hall School (NR27 0NH) - Closed to most pupils.

Smithdon High School (PE36 5HY) - Open to year nine and ten students.

Sparhawk Infant School & Nursery (NR7 8BU) - Fully closed.

Sprowston Community Academy (NR7 8NE) - The school will be closed except for vulnerable students, students in year 12 and students in year ten who have chosen to come in for supervised study.

Sprowston Infant School (NR7 8EW) - Tadpole class closed.

Swaffham Church Of England Primary Academy (PE37 7EA) - Reception class closed all day, also year one, year two closed from 12pm. Year three, four and five closed all day. Year six class closed from 12pm.

Terrington St. Clement Community School (PE34 4LZ) - Reception, years three, four and six closed.

Wymondham High Academy (NR18 0QT) - The school will be open only to year ten students and others specifically invited to attend.
