Swaffham Golf Club has presented a cheque for £1,000 to NANSA, an independent charity that supports children, teenagers and adults with disabilities across the county.

The money was raised through various golf competitions, and a charity bunker where members had to donate a fine for hitting a ball into the bunker.

Captain Keith Edmond handed over the cheque to NANSA trustee Tom Garrod who said: 'We are really grateful for the support from Swaffham Golf Club who have not only raised a fantastic donation but have also raised awareness about NANSA, getting our name out there which is vital for promoting our services.'

The club's donations will enable the charity to continue providing vital services to children and young people with disabilities, with sessions helping them to develop and learn practical life, social and communication skills.

The support comes at a time when the charity is about to expand its youth services programme into King's Lynn and West Norfolk, in partnership with West Norfolk Deaf Association.

Members from NANSA's Youth and Adult Services were invited to attend taster golf sessions in August 2016, delivered by the club's head PGA professional, Alan Wright.

Chief executive Ros Czarnowska said: 'People might take opportunities like this for granted, but for young people with disabilities, access to these kinds of experiences can be few and far between.

'NANSA looks to work in partnership with communities to enable people with disabilities to try out different activities and gain new skills.

'We are really grateful to Alan and Keith for making this possible, and for all the fundraising brilliance throughout the year.

'The group had a fantastic day that would simply not have happened without the support of Swaffham Golf Club and the donation will make a genuine difference to what can be achieved.'
